GARAGEBAND FOR MAC MINI PRO
It's not heavy as pro applications, so no worries. The program eat lots of memory so either you have only garageband open or get 1 GB to work smoothly. With 1 GB of ram, the program became very smooth. It's more or less the guts from the MacBook Pro, but without the laptop casing and keyboard and screen. Previously with 512 MB, Garageband was quite slow. Mix and match electric guitar amps, cabinets, and pedals with Amp Designer and Pedalboard or crank.

If you're interested in running a Mac with Garageband and want to save some money, look into the Mac Mini. GarageBand is the easiest way to create a great-sounding song on your Mac. Again, more of a fun/jamming/songwriting tool than something you can make serious demos out of.
I was getting some great Rick Wakeman Mini-Moog sounds out of it. You can split the keyboard so that there are two levels like on a church organ. But they're fun to mess around with and can spark some creativity. There are some fun features such as Smart Drums or Smart Keyboards that are definitely aimed more at non-musicians.
